Focus: SAFe for Hardware Agilist (SHWA)

SAFe® Hardware Agilist

Certified SAFe® SWHA

SAFe for Hardware Agilist is a two-day course that delves into the hardware industry and gives participants the opportunity to learn how to adapt SAFe to their industry using real-world examples and hardware-specific context. It enables organizations to seamlessly integrate SAFe principles into hardware development, accelerate delivery, and maintain flexibility while managing the complexity of large system designs.

Many organizations that develop hardware-based solutions face unique challenges when trying to adopt Lean-Agile practices. The gap between traditional development processes and modern agile methods can seem overwhelming. To bridge this gap, participants will acquire the following actionable skills: accelerating development cycles, quickly gathering and responding to feedback, and improving flexibility. The course serves as preparation for SAFe® for Hardware Agilist (SHWA) certification.

Training objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Accelerate development cycles and shorten time to market.
  • Gather rapid feedback and respond quickly to technical, market, and user feedback to refine products and processes.
  • Adapt quickly and efficiently to change and ensure teams can pivot when needed.
  • Improve collaboration and communication by strengthening teamwork between engineers and stakeholders for more effective workflows.
  • Proactively manage risk by integrating early risk detection and mitigation. This saves money and increases efficiency.
  • Seamlessly integrate compliance into development processes without slowing down progress.
  • Align suppliers with agile workflows to achieve better coordination and delivery.

Target audience

The following individuals will benefit from this course:

  • Engineers (mechanical, electrical, etc.) who want to apply a lean-agile approach to their current practices.
  • Systems engineers, product managers, and program managers responsible for delivering hardware-based solutions.
  • Engineering and development managers responsible for agile execution and coaching teams, including teams of teams.
  • Engineering leaders and managers who want to introduce lean-agile practices into their organizations.

Prerequisites

Everyone is welcome to participate in the course. There are no prerequisites. Prior knowledge of Agile practices is an advantage but not required.

Prerequisites and Online Test Certification

This person is expected to perform these tasks with limited assistance from colleagues, product documentation, and support resources. These skills and knowledge are highly recommended to successfully pass the Architect exam:

SAFe® Certification

Upon completion of the course, participants will take a final quiz to demonstrate their understanding. A score of 100% is required to pass, but don't worry—there is no limit to the number of retakes, and they are free of charge. If questions are answered incorrectly, helpful tips guide participants to the relevant content, ensuring that you can supplement your knowledge and successfully complete the test.

Participants who pass the test receive:

  • A SAFe for Hardware Agilist (SHWA) certificate, confirming their knowledge of integrating SAFe into hardware development.
  • A SAFe for Hardware Agilist Digital Badge
  • 1 year membership
  • Access to a variety of learning resources to support you in your continued SAFe journey.
